Connect the pedaling to the chain

The tooth tray is the part of the bicycle that connects the shaft to the crank. People drive the crank by pedaling, and then drive the rotation of the tooth disk, and finally through the chain and flywheel, drive the rear wheel to rotate, provide power, and complete the entire transmission chain of the bicycle.

Working principle

Denture: the part of a bicycle connected to a crank. Athletes drive the crank through the pedaling, and then drive the rotation of the tooth disk, and finally through the chain and flywheel, drive the rear wheel to rotate, provide power, and complete the entire transmission chain of the bicycle. The number of gear pieces on the dental disc: there are three kinds of single pieces, 2 pieces and 3 pieces. There are almost no four pieces, because it is technically difficult and practically meaningless.

Buying guide

Buying Guide: To replace a dental tray, the first task is to choose a set of products with the right weight and strength for your needs. If you are an XC driver who never damages the cranks and does not need them to withstand the impact of jumping or large drops, then you should look at those lightweight dental discs. But the lighter it is, the more care you need to take with it. If you are in the process of playing more and more fierce, and have already damaged the dental disk, or worry that the dental disk will be damaged soon, then you should choose a heavier and stronger dental disk. These powerful products start with the medium-weight RaceFace Atlas and work their way up to the super-strong Diabolus and DMR. In general, the heavier the product, the less likely it is to deform or break.

Dental disc

crank

Built for high strength use. From the material point of view, the crank of similar strength, the use of high-quality aluminum alloy products will be lighter, such products are more cost-effective. Carbon fiber cranks are very rigid, although a little lighter than aluminum alloy, but more expensive, and more prone to damage in the case of falling. Steel cranks are the strongest, but they are also heavy, so they are only suitable for drivers with the most damaged equipment.

Dental disc

bearing

Today, most dental discs have begun to use external central shafts, that is, the use of larger bearings, and the bearings are placed outside the frame, close to the shaft two sections of the position. In theory, this arrangement can make the whole disk system stronger and more rigid, and can extend the service life of the bearing. However, in real life, the middle shaft of this external bearing is more susceptible to pollution from the external environment, so the loss is faster. But they are also slowly improving, especially those retail center shaft modifications.

Toothed disc

Mountain bikes generally use 3 gear discs, 44, 32 and 22 teeth, which will have a large range of gear ratios. The combination of small tooth disc, medium tooth disc and guard disc is more suitable for rushing into more extreme routes, or climbing obstacles on the street. Those routes that require a high degree of skill will not think of the big toothed disc. If you don't mind pushing up the mountain, or if you can use the cable car, then the combination of a single plate guide chain provides the most reliable transmission. In addition, riders who ride a lot of miles (or often ride in bad weather) should choose a tooth plate with a more durable tooth plate than those ordinary aluminum alloy teeth.

Dental disc

Current technology

1) Integrated dental disc; The central shaft bar and the dental disc crank are connected together;

2) Hollow dental disc; The crank of the dental disc set is sealed and hollow to minimize weight;

3) Hollow integrated dental disc; With the development of science and technology, most of the middle and high-end dental disks are now hollow integrated dental disks, the more common hollow integrated dental disks are Shimano SLX series, Shimano XT series, Shimano XTR series, SRAM Truvativ and so on.

Install

1. Install the adjuster first (left positive thread and right reverse thread) and tighten it with the tool like a big plate handle.

2. Insert the right tooth tray into the opposite crank Angle, if there is a washer in the left crank.3. 4. Then tighten the 2 screws on the left crank root. One of SHIMANO's gaskets for preventing falling off is threaded by the screws, then pressed in, and then locked into 2 screws. It should be noted that the 2 screws should be locked alternately, not lock one at a time and then lock another.
